※What is a Keshi Pearl?
Keshi pearls are pearls that are accidentally formed when foreign matter, such as sand grains, enters the shell of an oyster used for cultured pearls.
When foreign matter irritates the inside of the shell, cells that produce pearls enter the interior, and the nacre layer is formed.
Unlike regular pearls, which are created by inserting a round nucleus around which the nacre layer is wrapped, Keshi pearls have no nucleus, resulting in unique, natural-looking forms.
However, most of them have imperfections or protrusions, and it is rare to find ones that are perfectly round or have a beautifully uniform quality.
