*What are Keshi pearls?
Keshi pearls are pearls that are accidentally formed when foreign matter, such as sand particles, enters the shell of a cultured pearl oyster, stimulating it.
The foreign matter slightly damages the inside of the shell, and the cells that form the pearl enter the interior, forming the nacre layer.
While regular pearls are made by inserting a round nucleus around which nacre layers are formed, Keshi pearls lack this nucleus, resulting in unique, natural-looking forms.
However, most of them have flaws or protrusions, and it is rare to find round or beautifully shaped ones of good quality.
