About Umihotaru
Baroque Akoya pearls with a natural blue color, cultivated by one of Japan's leading pearl farmers with a 120-year history in Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Only pearls with a mysterious blue, as if reflecting the sea of Tsushima, are named "Umihotaru" and certified as a unique pearl brand.
The beautiful interference color of Akoya pearls is created when organic components from the oyster enter the nacre layer.
While natural blue Akoya pearls are considered prone to color change, "Umihotaru" pearls have a thick nacre layer and rich color, and undergo a preservation process under strict management to minimize color change.
