【Kiyoto Hoshika x sCenes】Black Mother-of-Pearl Stand Tray - BR *Sales start August 27th at 8 PM (JST)
This stand tray is made of black-lipped mother-of-pearl, and the stand was custom-made by Kiyoto Hoshika, a recorder and flute maker.
The tray is made of black-lipped mother-of-pearl from Tahiti, processed by sCenes to intentionally preserve the natural shape of the shell.
The stand is made using the same method as woodwind instruments, where wood is shaved while being rotated on a woodturning lathe.
The design is like an inverted specimen stand for COLLECTIBLE PEARL, featuring sharp edges throughout, and the beautiful curves extending from the corners, characteristic of handcrafted work, are truly wonderful. The detailed fine grooves are also exquisitely balanced.
Maple is a wood used for recorders, known for its smooth texture and silky luster.
This one has been painted dark brown and finished with linseed oil, also used in recorder making.
Each black-lipped mother-of-pearl has a unique appearance.
While observing the condition of the raw shell, brittle excess layers around the edges are removed, sharp parts are ground down, and the periostracum (outer shell layer) on the back is also processed to remove adhering matter and brittle layers, bringing it as close as possible to its natural state.
A polymer is applied as a protective coating to prevent drying.
It can be used to place rings or earrings after wearing, or displayed as an object inside a cabinet.
Please use it as you like.
More detailed information can be found on the feature page.

Care Instructions
■The maple (dark brown) stand has an oil finish. For daily care, wipe with a dry cloth or a firmly wrung-out cloth. If it dries out over time, apply oil maintenance and allow it to dry thoroughly.
■The nacre (surface) of the shell tray is unpainted. Like pearls, contact with acidic substances may dull its luster, so if this happens, promptly wipe it with a soft cloth.
Precautions
・As the stand is made of natural wood and handcrafted one by one, please note that there may be slight individual differences.
・Scratches, holes, or cracks may be visible on the inner surface or edges of the shell. These are either natural or minor imperfections caused by cutting. The back is also finished to be as close to the raw shell as possible, and there may be fine natural deposits. If you are concerned about this, please refrain from purchasing.
・A polymer (ingredients: silicone, etc.) is applied to the periostracum (darker side) on the back of the shell to prevent drying, but prolonged exposure to UV light or aging may weaken the protective film's effect.
・While the brittle layers of the periostracum on the back are removed and polymer applied, it is not hardened, so layers may chip or detach. Please be aware of this.
・While the edges and sharp parts of the shell are ground down, please handle with care when touching.
・Due to the weight of the shell, the stand has a wide base, but it is relatively easy to tip over. Please handle with care.
・Do not place heavy or large items on it.
*Each pearl sometimes has blemishes and flaws on the surface which actually indicate that a pearl is authentic. *For any enquiries and further information about our products, please do not hesitate to contact us before the purchase. *The pearls and jewelries on the image may slightly differ from their actual color, texture and design due to the display resolution on different devices.
