【Kiyoto Hoshika × sCenes】Black Mother-of-Pearl Stand Tray - NC *Sales begin January 4th at 8 PM
This is a black-lipped mother-of-pearl stand tray for which we commissioned recorder and flute maker Kiyoto Hoshika to create the stand.
The tray was processed by sCenes using black-lipped mother-of-pearl from Tahiti, intentionally preserving the natural shape of the shell.
The stand is made using the same method as woodwind instrument manufacturing, where wood is rotated and carved using a machine called a wood lathe.
The design is like an inverted specimen stand for COLLECTIBLE PEARL, with sharp edges throughout, and the beautiful curves extending from the corners, characteristic of handmade craftsmanship, are truly wonderful. The detailed grooves are also well-balanced.
"Maple" is a wood used in recorders and other instruments, known for its smooth, pleasant feel and silky luster.
This piece utilizes the natural color of the wood and is finished without oil coating, making the whitish hue of the maple attractive.
You can place rings or earrings after wearing them, or display it as an objet d'art in a cabinet.
Please use it as you like.
More detailed information can be found on the feature page.

MATERIALMaple (natural), black-lipped mother-of-pearl
SIZEOverall size: W approx. 12cm × D approx. 11.5cm × H approx. 8cm (Stand: W 3.8cm × H 5.5cm)
Care Instructions
■ The stand has an unpainted (oil-free) finish. It is carved from thoroughly dried wood, so it is unlikely to crack, but it can absorb moisture and oils easily. When cleaning, wipe with a dry cloth. If dirt adheres, wipe with a tightly wrung damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
■ The nacre (inner surface) of the shell tray is unpainted. As with pearls, acidic substances can damage the luster, so if they come into contact, wipe them off immediately with a soft cloth.
Precautions
・Please note that since the stand is made of natural wood and crafted by hand, there may be slight individual differences.
・Each black-lipped mother-of-pearl shell has a different appearance, so please refer to the images before purchasing.
・Scratches, holes, or cracks may be visible on the inner surface or edges of the shell. These are either naturally occurring or minor imperfections from the cutting process. The back of the shell is finished in a state close to its original form, and may have fine natural deposits. If you are concerned about this, please refrain from purchasing.
・A polymer (ingredients: silicone etc.) is applied to the periostracum (black part) on the back of the shell to prevent drying, but prolonged exposure to UV light or aging may weaken the effect of this protective film.
・The periostracum on the back has had brittle layers removed and polymer applied, but it is not solidified, so the layers may chip or detach. Please be aware of this.
・The edges and sharp parts of the shell have been smoothed, but please handle with care when touching them.
・Due to the weight of the shell, the stand has been designed with a wide base, but it is relatively easy to tip over. Please handle with care.
・Do not place heavy or large items on it.
*Each pearl sometimes has blemishes and flaws on the surface which actually indicate that a pearl is authentic. *For any enquiries and further information about our products, please do not hesitate to contact us before the purchase. *The pearls and jewelries on the image may slightly differ from their actual color, texture and design due to the display resolution on different devices.
