※What is Umibotaru (Sea Firefly)?
Naturally blue baroque Akoya pearls cultivated by one of Japan's leading farmers, established 120 years ago in Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Only pearls with a mystical blue, as if reflecting the sea of Tsushima, are named "Umibotaru" and certified as a pearl brand.
The beautiful interference colors of Akoya pearls are created when organic components from the shell enter the nacre layer.
Naturally blue colors are accidental occurrences, so it is rare and very valuable for the color to beautifully cover the entire pearl.
Natural blue Akoya pearls are said to be prone to color changes, but "Umibotaru" pearls have a thick nacre layer and deep color, and undergo a preservation process under strict management to prevent color changes.
